ABOUT

Hello, thanks for taking the time to visit this website. Blueprint Productions is the collective name for all of the art and design work produced by me, Nige Pearce.

Can you use a profile picture from a few years ago?….me in 2020!

I am an artist, designer, maker, photographer, part-time teacher and Dad. I was born in Bristol where I’m based. I studied Furniture and Product Design at Ravensbourne College in London from 1988-1991.

1991: Brockley, London, SE4.

For a while now I have moved away from 3D Design and focused on making art. A lot of my art uses a process called blueprinting, otherwise known as cyanotypes, hence the name Blueprint Productions (setup in 2018). I love this old photographic process, it’s simple, but has numerous possibilities that creates a unique outcome every time.

I’ve produced thousands of blueprints and honed my art over the last 10 years. This approach has resulted in an original style that blends modern technology with this alternative photographic process.

In 2020 I laid all my blueprint outs, it felt great, a lot of change was happening in the world and in my life , so I made a flag too!

As well as blueprints I also sell a digital print called “Bristol Flyers For Charity”, made from a montage of all my old flyers. The print raises money and awareness for a men’s mental health charity called Talk Club”. The print celebrates Bristol’s musical and cultural history, something I feel very proud to be a part of. You can see the print in a number of venues in Bristol including the legendary Arnolfini Bar/ Art Gallery on the harbour side in central Bristol.

Blueprint Records

Some of the blueprints I make look like records, you can display these as they are, or customise them with a personalised record label from a choice of templates, adding in your favourite track/s. Each print is unique due to the blueprinting process and the spinning table used to create them. They make ideal presents for anyone who likes original art and music….. think desert island discs or the first dance at a wedding.

Telling peoples stories is a common theme in my artwork whether it’s via the tracks you choose on a Blueprint Record, or the time lines and blueprint portraits I make. I also create larger spinning’s to order (about a meter in diameter). I will take on commercial briefs as well as private commissions. I have experience working for a whole range of individuals and companies from big to small, please do get in touch to discuss your ideas.

This is a time line showing the most significant stories in my life. Please get in touch if you would like me to do yours.

The Portable Art Show

I’ve always tried to do things in an eco-friendly way, and my artwork and the way I do business reflects this. For this reason I designed and made a trailer for my electric bicycle, so I have a portable art show to take everything around in.

Blueprint Portraits

Some areas of what I do are more “work in progress” than others. An area I’m currently working on are blueprint portraits. After the print is made I will often add colour or words onto the image, depending on the story behind the person or people I’m portraying.

Poetry

I’m on a sort of 25 year poetry cycle! I wrote a little poetry book called “Fabric” in 1997 and now 25 years later I’ve just written the sequel called “Sunshine and Storms”. The front cover of “Fabric” featured plastic waste I found and turned into art. The front cover of “Sunshine and Storms” features me on a cat!

Sunshine and Storms: A small book of poetry from 2023, featuring me on a cat on the front cover…..I hope to perform this somewhere soon.

Shortstraw

In the early 2000’s I had a small eco-friendly business called “Shortstraw”. I made art and furniture from panels that I made myself from barley and wheat straw and even waste plastics. I still feel very proud of what I achieved with this business, even if it never properly took off…. you have to have a go, we have to try and make things that last, improve lives and are sustainable.

I’ve made art for celebrities such as Norman Cooke and Zoe Ball, and my art has sold in Shops such as Selfridges in London. I’ve always tried to design and make beautiful things to enhance and elevate peoples lives.

Thank you for sticking with me to here! Please contact me or visit the shop to find out how I can produce a unique piece of art and design for you.
